ATTENTION!!
We are pleased to announce that New Bedford Public Schools has created a position entitled Parent Partner / Family Engagement contact person. This came about as a result of parents voicing their concerns to the superintendent that they would appreciate having someone to contact that could guide them through the special education process / protocols and answer related questions.
Karen Garcia, a retired middle school special education teacher, academic coach, and special education facilitator has been hired in this part-time position. She works Tues.-Thursday from 7:30 AM to 12:30 PM. She can be reached by email at kgarcia@newbedfordpublicschools.org or by phone (508) 997-4511 ext.3394.  She will do her best to answer your questions, address your concerns, and offer direction. Mrs. Garcia always advocated for building a mutually respectful bond with the families of her students because she recognized the importance of parental support. She is happy to be given the opportunity to continue fostering that partnership with families.
